Solar and energy storage development

Dedicated to developing high-quality, responsible energy projects.

Spindrift Power develops solar and energy storage projects that are environmentally responsible, make good neighbors, and meet the unique needs of the local community.

About

Experience across the full project lifecycle.

Spindrift Power is a developer of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. Our team brings technical expertise, real estate experience, and long-standing industry relationships to every project we pursue.

We focus our efforts on projects with a high likelihood of success in a competitive market, and we lead every stage of development from site evaluation and land through permitting, interconnection, and engineering.

Our approach

Thorough diligence. Projects that get built.

Site evaluation

Extensive due diligence on land, grid access, and environmental factors before a project moves forward.

Real estate

Fair, transparent agreements with landowners, built on relationships that last the life of the project.

Permitting

Early, open engagement with local communities and agencies so projects fit the places they are built.

Engineering

Design and interconnection work that carries a project from concept through construction to operation.

Commonly asked questions

What it's like to live near a project.

What is it like to live near a solar project?

Living by a solar project is similar to living by a farm. Solar projects use no fuel, have no emissions, and are quiet. They have a low profile, similar in height to a cornfield.

Are solar projects noisy?

Solar projects produce minimal noise, which becomes inaudible outside the project property. Any sound occurs only while the plant is operating during the day, not at night.

Do solar panels cause glare?

Panels are designed to absorb sunlight and are coated with an anti-reflective layer to minimize reflection. Solar panels have been approved by the FAA for installation at airports.

Will a project change how the area looks?

Vegetation barriers such as trees and bushes, along with property setbacks, are used to reduce the visibility of a project from neighboring land and roads.

What happens at the end of a project's life?

Projects generally operate for 30 to 40 years. At the end of that time the project is decommissioned and the land is restored to its prior use. The project owner is required to remove all equipment, and bonds are secured to guarantee it.

Are battery storage systems a fire risk?

Battery fires are rare. Modern systems are equipped with fire suppression and containment technology. Projects are built to national fire codes, set back from homes and property lines, and routinely inspected.
